How To Throw a BASH-lorette
PICK A DESTINATION (OR DON’T... hehe).
Going to Vegas or Miami with your squad to celebrate the end of your single life is amazing... IF that’s for you. Otherwise, plan a staycation and spend where it counts; food, alcohol, & the "Insta-worthy" details!
Having a theme and/or color scheme picked out from the start makes it much easier when shopping for outfits, accessories, and decor. When browsing Etsy (the BEST place to find customized goodies for you and your girls) all things in your colors will pop out at you right away! As you can see… our vibe was classic black & white with pops of PINK! Doing this also gives you and your girls a tied-together look so you can feel like a true squad.
Make sure your MOH (or whoever is helping you with the planning) knows how important it is to keep your group intimate before the invites go out. Intimate doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with quantity, but rather QUALITY. These should be your favorite girls in the whole world. These are the women who support and love you endlessly, who are going to be enthusiastically ready to celebrate you marrying the man or woman of your dreams! In most cases, this probably doesn't include co-workers, someone you’ve hung out with twice, all 15 of your cousins, a frenemy, etc. If the word “cheerleaders” doesn’t resonate when looking over your guest list, re-evaluate.
Having somewhere to keep all your things, a place to change and get glammed up for nighttime, a cozy spot to go back to after all's said and done… It makes all the difference. If you don't want to do hotel rooms or your hotel doesn't offer suites, I highly suggest looking into Air B&B. In every major city and even the surrounding areas, they have house and loft options specifically designed for large groups, a perfect way to keep everyone together for the duration of the festivities!
SWAG IT OUT.
Saying “THANK YOU” to your girls at the end of an epic weekend often doesn’t feel like it’s enough. If your budget allows, make sure they all go home with a little something to remember the celebration by! It doesn’t have to be big or expensive, it’s the thought that counts, so whatever fits your budget. Whether that means getting custom hair ties or matching pink bombers with their nickname embroidered on the back (Ana at The Stonework in Astoria, Queens is the BEST!) the gesture will mean so much. In addition to the matching pink bombers, we did hashtag flash tattoos during the day (by Dunkirk Designs), custom cookies (by Cousin Cookie), and mini champagne bottles.
DOCUMENT THAT ISH.
If you didnt Instagram it… did it even happen!? In my opinion, having a professional photographer is key. Do you want to keep worrying about where your phone is or how much battery you have left or how you’re going to get the perfect group shot? No! You’d rather leave that to a pro and just ENJOY your day! If you don’t have the budget, try finding an aspiring photographer on Instagram and let them know about some of the things you have planned for your fun day (you never know what someone might need for their portfolio). It could be mutually beneficial therefore giving you the ability to get a discounted rate or perhaps just a good trade. Pro bono, baby... It never hurts to ask!
Thank you to my amazing daytime photographer and my friend, Nicholas Mrnarevic (@nicholasmrnarevic on IG) and my nighttime photographer, Alejandro (@alex3 on IG).
SO WHAT DO WE DO!?
For my bachelorette, we wanted to drink watermelon margaritas while basking in the sun without having to leave NYC so we decided on a daytime pool party at The Beach at Dream Downtown. We followed that with a glam session before our all-pink dinner at Pietro Nolita and ended the night with dancing at 1Oak and a cute slumber party at our suite back at Dream Downtown. This one-night-only situation isn’t for everyone, so feel free to disperse activities throughout an entire weekend. Some other things I considered for my celebration (most of which I feel would work for any season) are below, in case you need some fun ideas!
- For the workout fanatic: a group fitness class at Soul Cycle or Barry’s Bootcamp into a yummy Mexican bottomless brunch at Agave NYC.
- For the wine-lover: a limo trip to Wolfer Estate Vineyard with a picnic lunch.
- For the beauty lover: a day of pampering at Bliss Spa or Spa Castle followed by rooftop drinks at the scenic Gallow Green.
- For the foodie: a group cooking class followed by an amazing 7-course chef’s tasting menu at the highly acclaimed Degustation.
- For the wild child: a sunset happy hour cruise followed by a ridiculous dinner and drag queen show.
- For the homebody: a Pure Romance party in your own apartment (my friend Julie is amazing! We did this the night before my bachelorette day!) accompanied by a huge sushi platter and a few air mattresses. ;)
Overall, the entire weekend was a success and we will forever be able to look back on the memories thanks to all of the amazing photos, Instagram posts and Facebook memories. Hope these tips help when you are planning YOUR bachelorette, your best friend’s or even when you need some cute ideas for your next girly night out!
