Don't Touch My Baby

Okay I feel like this NEEDS to be talked about:⁣

Yesterday a little old lady saw my carriage from a few feet away and asked “is there a sweet bundle of joy in there!?” I said, “yes, his name is Teddy and he’s sleeping.” She proceeded to walk over, take a glimpse of him, said something along the lines of “aww how precious!” And before I know it, had 3 fingers stroking his cheek! 🤢 If you know me, you know I have NO problem speaking my mind or being a bitch when I need to be. But something about her being so old and cute kept me from being my brutally honest self and I just stood there in shock hoping she would take 6 steps back IMMEDIATELY. ⁣

What I wish I said: ⁣

You might be great with babies. You might even have 78 grandchildren. But I don’t know where your hands have been. You are a stranger. You have germs. It’s flu season. 🦠 And my baby has a fragile little newly developing immune system so PLEASE... NO TOUCHING!⁣

The bottom line is: protecting our babies from germs and strangers’ hands is our responsibility! And it is so strange but for some reason there are still people in the world who DON’T know that 99% of moms don’t want you, a stranger, touching their baby! ⁣

I don’t know if there’s a nice way to say “PLEASE DON’T TOUCH MY BABY” so I’m hoping maybe this post can serve as a PSA to inform those who don’t know that this is indeed a “no-no.” We need to talk about this so these awkward situations don’t continue! Fellow moms/dads- what do you think!?
